Restorative Dentistry Can Bring Back a Healthy, Beautiful Smile
As teeth begin to decay, break, or become infected, a dentist can use restorative dentistry to restore your teeth and smile to a healthy state. At Masterworks Dentistry in Bakersfield, our goal is to return your teeth and your smile to good health and beauty. Dr. Dickens is trained and skillful in numerous restorative treatments. He can repair a damaged tooth with something as simple as a crown or a filling. He is also skilled and experienced in performing total mouth restorations and reconstructions.
Repair Your Broken, Damaged, or Unattractive Teeth
It is our joy to make sure that your teeth are healthy, that they are attractive, and that they are functional. Restorative techniques can affect each of these areas. Dr. Dickens and his staff offer the following restorative treatments to the community of Bakersfield, CA.
Veneers are a thin, ceramic shell that covers your existing teeth and are great for fixing issues such as cracked or misaligned teeth, chipped teeth, stains, spacing and other issues. Veneers are nearly undetectable to the human eye. They are strong and resistant to stains. They look like healthy teeth but are made of white enamel. Veneers are easily repaired. To apply them requires little to no removal of your existing tooth structure.
The process to receive veneers takes two visits but is well worth it. You will walk out with a shining new smile! We can work with you to create the look and shape that is best for you. While we are constructing your new veneers, we will fit you with temporary veneers. Once bonded in place, your new veneers will feel just like your natural teeth but you will have a brand new smile.
Root canals are required when infected nerves in the root of your tooth need to be removed. If left untreated, the infection can lead to more serious problems. It is important that the procedure is done quickly. When you visit Dr. Bradley Dickens for your root canal, we will numb the area around your tooth then create an opening in the root canal and remove the infected tissue. Once the canal is sealed back up a crown is usually installed over the tooth for aesthetics and to help with healing.
A filling can be used to close off spaces in your teeth where bacteria can enter. They help prevent further decay to your teeth. Our office uses composite resin fillings which are tooth-colored so no one will be able to tell that you have had a filling placed. Most people need at least one filling in their lifetime. They are commonly used to treat cavities. A dental filling will restore the function and integrity of a missing tooth structure.
Sealants are a treatment we can use to prevent tooth decay. It is a thin, protective coating that adheres to the chewing surface of your back teeth. Sealants can last up to ten years but they need to be checked at regular dental exams to make sure they aren’t being chipped or worn away. If that is the case, we can repair sealants by adding more material.
Dr. Bradley Dickens will do everything possible to restore an existing tooth rather than replace it. Many times, to save a tooth, an inlay or onlay is required. Inlays and onlays are also known as partial crowns and can preserve the shape of, and prevent more damage to a tooth.
An inlay is used when it is possible to lay a partial crown on top of your tooth because there is no damage to the cusps of the tooth. An onlay is used when there is damage to the cusps of a tooth.
