Dental Implants Offer a Superior Solution
If needing to replace one or many missing teeth, dental implants are a great option. Because it does not disturb the other natural teeth, it is a better solution to bridges and dentures.
What is the Dental Implant Procedure?
This procures takes several months to complete. At the first visit a titanium post is placed directly into the jawbone through an incision that is made in the gum. One or several implants can be done in one visit. The gums are then sutured.
Temporary crowns will be placed in your mouth so you can eat and speak normally while the healing process is taking place. It will take 3-6 months for the jawbone to fuse with the rod and for your gums to heal from the procedure.
At your next visit, Dr. Dickens will attach an abutment to your implant. This will be what your implant will attach to. It is the foundation for the implant. An impression of the abutment will also be made in order to allow a custom-fabricated implant to be created just for you. The final appointment will be when Dr. Dickens attaches the permanent implant. This will allow you to speak, eat and smile as if your teeth were all your natural teeth.
